Volvo Ocean Race
Race Village
Branding for the 12 cities around the world that were stopovers of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18. This huge event needed to have lots of branding elements such as flags, banners, fences, info totems, team bases, signal icons, public transport, street billboards or screens. The concept is based on the combination of 45 degrees inclination, a collection of brushes and the corporative colour, to keep all the elements with the same look&feel and transmitting the strong, speed and raw nature of this sport.
Race Report & Sustainability Report
Design, layout and graphics for the annual report of the race. A book of approximately 300 pages where achievements, economic impact and relevant data on each aspect of the regatta are collected, such as events, communication, logistics or the Race itself. Along with the Sustainability Report of the edition that includes all the impacts and achievements of the regatta in terms of sustainability.
Turn the Tide on Plastic
Branding material for the team 'Turn the Tide on Plastic'. The team is part of the 'Clean Seas' campaign by United Nations Environment. The name of the team, Turn the Tide on Plastic, was the inspiration to create the concept of two different sides: one side is a sea wave full of plastic waste, the other side is the clean sea that could be a reality if we change the use of plastic now.
The main sponsor of the team was the airline Mirpuri Foundation, so the branding was applied to one of their planes. Also, a lot of branding material was created for the team such as aluminium bottles, Social Media content, Team Bases on the Race Village... even a replica of the team boat is exposed on the streets of Alicante promoting the campaign.
Awards Night
Logo design, invitations, menu cards, signage, screen presentations and more branding material for the most important night in the Volvo Ocean Race, the 2017-18 Awards Night Gala at World Forum in The Hague, the biggest auditorium in Netherlands.
The main concept was the always unstable state of the sea with a special attention to the Southern Ocean where the boats lived the most strongest forces of nature, but always keeping the look&feel of the brand with the brush element and the corporative colour. 3D waves graphics based in real data of the sea at different legs were created in collaboration with Boompje Studio from Amsterdam. This graphics also worked animated in big screens all over the reception drinks area. Approximately 2,000 guests were invited to this Gala, even the Royalty from Spain and Netherlands.
Infographics
Graphic design and illustrations for infographics with key info about the Volvo Ocean Race, the toughest sailing race around the world. The infographics worked as posters and light boxes inside the Volvo Ocean Race Museum and on each stopover in 12 countries. The designs were also used for Social Media content.
Museum Exhibition
Study of the space, planning, design and development of this exhibition that includes more than four decades of experience of the Spanish sailors in the toughest competition in the world of sailing.
The exhibition surrounds the walls of the museum's auditorium and it is composed of 26 light boxes and a large information panel that works as a background during presentations. The composition goes from red to yellow, like the Spanish flag; the symbols, based on the traditional language of sailing, create rhythm and movement, as does the way the panels are placed, up and down, enhancing the concept of the sea.
